RideCymru traverses 250 miles of some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain the UK has to offer. Starting on the Irish Sea coast in North Wales and winding south to the capital city, Cardiff, the route takes riders over iconic climbs, past historic landmarks, and through the heart of Welsh culture and heritage.
Along the way, riders will be treated to an experience rooted in Welsh culture with food, drink and entertainment sourced from local communities. From soaring mountain passes to lush river valleys, this is more than just a ride – it’s a journey through one of the world’s most incredible cycling landscapes, right here in the UK.

The Great Orme
Y Gogarth
A striking limestone headland that towers above the seaside town of Llandudno. Windswept and rugged, it offers panoramic views across the Irish Sea and towards Eryri (Snowdonia).

Conwy Castle
Castell Conwy
Conwy Castle stands sentinel over the River Conwy, its stone walls and towers rising from the medieval town below. Built by Edward I in the 13th century, it’s one of Europe’s finest examples of military architecture.

Eryri National Park
Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri
A dramatic landscape of jagged peaks, deep valleys, and ancient woodlands. Home to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Wales’ highest mountain, the park is steeped in myth and history, and makes for a stunning start to the ride.

Coed-y-Brenin
Welsh for King’s Forest
An ancient forest in the heart of Eryri, where ancient oaks and conifers cloak the hillsides and rivers carve deep, mossy gorges. Home to some of the UK’s best mountain-biking trails, the quiet roads of Coed-y-Brenin offer a calm serenity for road cyclists as well.

The Desert of Wales

A vast, windswept upland in central Wales, part of the Cambrian Mountains. Often called the “Green Desert of Wales,” it’s a landscape of moorland plateaus, deep valleys, and scattered farmsteads.

Clywedog Reservoir
Llyn Clywedog
Tucked into the northern Cambrian Mountains, Clywedog Reservoir is a long, winding lake held by a 236-foot dam, the tallest concrete dam in the UK. Buzzards and ospreys circle above, while trails trace the shoreline past old mines and wildflower meadows.

Flowing from the rugged slopes of Plynlimon, the River Wye passes through some of Wales and England’s most varied landscapes. Its course carves deep valleys, skirts ancient woodlands, and winds past castles and abbeys.

Cambrian Mountains

A barren and sparsely populated ‘wilderness’ in central Wales, home to the sources of the River Severn and River Wye. A landscape shaped by centuries of weather and time—windswept, open, and relentlessly spectacular.

Forming a sweeping, distinctive upland landscape, the Brecon Beacons herald your arrival in South Wales towards the end of Day Two. One of the most iconic landscapes in Wales.

Gospel Pass
Bwlch yr Efengyl
Gospel Pass, the highest road in Wales, winds through the Black Mountains between Hay Bluff and Twmpa, rising to 549 metres above sea level. This tough, exposed route rewards you with sweeping views over the Vale of Ewyas and the Wye Valley.

Dyffryn Ewias
A secluded, steep-sided valley carved by the River Honddu in the Black Mountains of South Wales. Enclosed by high ridges and ancient woodland, this incredible 10-mile descent is a place of quiet majesty and deep history.

Following a successful, sell out Pioneer ride in 2025, RideCymru will return in 2026 at scale.
Kicking off in Llandudno on 11th September and finishing in Cardiff on the 13th, the 2026 edition of RideCymru will build upon the foundations set by our Pioneer riders, offering a choice of hotel accommodation or fully supported tent camping, allowing riders to experience RideCymru their way.
